João Brasil

João Brasil is a musician, DJ, performer, music producer and composer from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. He graduated at Berklee College of Music , Boston and he has an MA degree in Design for Interactive Media at Middlesex University, London. As a DJ, he runs one of the most successful parties in Rio de Janeiro: FODASSE. When he lived in London he was a resident of Club Popozuda, Musicalia and Baby Bitch (Jungle Drums Magazine) party, he played at V&A Museum, Tate Modern and Tower Bridge. He features in the new Fatboy Slim’s album “Bem Brasil” with his project Rio Shock (a house music meets baile funk project) and a collaboration with Carl Cox. He made tropical remixes for major artist like Lorde, CSS, Iggy Azalea, Charli Xcx, Bonde do Rolê, N.A.S.A., Thiaguinho (A Brazilian samba star).

In 2010 João made the 365 mashups project , one mashup per day, which he posted daily at www.365mashups.wordpress.com blog. DJ Fatboy Slim said João Brasil is his favorite brazilian DJ on that time. João is a fireworks music composer, he composed the soundtrack for the last four years Copacabana Beach NYE party, he performed for over two million people and he is the composer of the soundtrack to the FIFA world cup closing ceremony fireworks. With Man Recordings he released a lot of singles and Eps. His song "L.O.V.E. Banana" featuring Lovefoxxx was a hit and influenced Madonna in her music. His main music interest/research are: Brazilian ghetto-tech music styles (baile funk, tecnobrega and electronic forró), pop music, mashups, pop culture, Bass culture and alternative ways for electronic music performance.

Since releasing his Brazilian smash-hit "Michael Douglas" in autumn 2016 and releasing the ensuing "Nunca Mais Vou Dormir" EP, João Brasil has become a staple on festivals and the Brasilian club circuit.
